Why is she alone tonight? Why is she not feeling all right? Why is she just a little uptight? Where is her smile tonight? Where are her dreams of success? Then again, it may be all for the best Now it’s time to face the rest of the future She left behind some plans along the way Now there’s nothing she can do but pray Whatever happened to yesterday, anyway And even though she left behind some memories and love The past is gone and now it’s time to rise above But she can’t see the love that’s here today So now there’s peace within her mind And she’s happy in another time But she didn’t give a sign, and they miss her She left behind some plans along the way Now there’s nothing they can do but pray Whatever happened to yesterday, anyway And even though she left behind some memories and love The past is gone, it’s time for them to rise above Why couldn’t she see the love? It’s still here today

It’s time to stand up, for love and equality It’s time to join up, and celebrate life Some are misguided, in the name of tradition In America freedom, means we all have rights I know we’ve heard this all before, keep things the same and nothing more Some don’t understand what freedom means They want to force us to agree, there’s only one way we should be And not be free to love the person of our dreams It’s time to stand up, for love and equality It’s time to join up, and celebrate life (I tell you) Some are misguided, in the name of tradition (yes they are) In America freedom, means we all have rights Children need love to help them thrive, yes they need caring to survive When people try to keep them down If everyone could see, all the different families They would learn and then they’d come around It’s time to stand up, for love and equality It’s time to join up, and celebrate life (let me tell you) Some are misguided, in the name of tradition (yes they are) In America freedom, means we all have rights We’re talkin’ gay, trans, bi, straight, wanna marry our soul mate Hard to find the one to love, nothing to be guilty of No one’s been appointed who, should tell the whole what to do Acrimony and division, are not the purpose of religion It’s time to stand up (it’s time to stand up), for love and equality (equality, equality) It’s time to join up, and celebrate life (hear me sayin’) Some are misguided, in the name of tradition (yes they are) In America freedom, means we all have rights It’s time to stand up, for love and equality It’s time to join up, and celebrate life (yeah) Some are misguided, in the name of tradition In America freedom, means we all have rights It’s time to stand up, for love and equality It’s time to join up, and celebrate life (celebrate life) Some are misguided, in the name of tradition (yes they are) In America freedom, means we all have rights (we all have rights0 In America freedom, means we all have rights In America freedom, means we all have rights In America freedom, means we all have rights (we all have rights) In America freedom, means we all have rights In America freedom, means we all have rights

There’s a special feeling in the air, all over the world A special spirit, a life, a new beauty unfurled When I close my eyes, I can see a shining new face With a look of wonder that no one could ever replace Where did this joyous sight come from? What makes the feeling so grand? Why is hope for happiness spreading all over the land? ‘cause She was born in a house of love Like a gift from above, and she didn’t need anything else at all ‘cause She was born in a house of love With the velvet touch, so innocent and pure In a world cascading with problems there is hope in new life It’s a sign to all humankind that says there’s no need to fight The start of childhood is a joy that inspires and heals And let’s us all discover new ways to feel This is our hope for the future This is our chance to survive This is the way we’ve always had to keep our dreams alive ‘cause She was born in a house of love Like a gift from above, and she didn’t need anything else at all ‘cause She was born in a house of love With the velvet touch, so innocent and pure Where did this joyous sight come from? What makes the feeling so grand? Why is hope for happiness spreading over the land? ‘cause She was born in a house of love Like a gift from above, she didn’t ever need anything else at all ‘cause She was born in a house of love With the velvet touch, so innocent and pure

My Friend 04:39
He left his home and his family He went out to seek his future And when his ship came into port, he tried to find himself He spent too many years alone Wondering what he was looking for And finally he gave up in frustration, and he tried to die What is it you’re looking for, my friend? Why can’t you be satisfied, you’re always going away again Running away from life, my friend A lonely man keeps wandering Trying to find his future And even now as the years slip away, he keeps on hoping What is it you’re looking for, my friend? Why can’t you be satisfied, you’re always going away again Running away from life, my friend He died yesterday Now his life is just a memory, slipping away What is it you’re looking for, my friend? Why can’t you be satisfied, you’re always going away again Running away from life, my friend

You look at me and smile a million smiles I’m lost inside those eyes like a child Could it mean you’re the one for me? Is it ever meant to be? After all those nights I can’t recall I asked myself if I would ever fall There you are looking so alive And I know this could be the time And I say what am I doing, this time around? Where am I going, am I willing to be found? Could it be different than those times I knew before? How can I know for sure? I’d taken on those hopes within my dreams And thrown them all away, sight unseen When all along, you were somewhere on the way Now I know this could be the day What am I doing, this time around? Where am I going, am I willing to be found? Could it be different than those other times before? How can I know for sure? Deep in my heart, I always knew There’d be someone for me, is it true? Waiting for a sign, we sometimes take too long And never see what’s there before, before it’s gone The vital signs are right in front of me You’re like a ray of light shining free I look at you and it makes me want to smile And I know it’s all worthwhile And I say what am I doing, this time around? Where am I going, am I willing to be found? Could it be different than those other times before? How can I know for sure? Maybe I know for sure Can I know for sure? I think I know

We live our lives one moment at a time Fame and fortune nowhere near, this wasn’t really the idea Trapped inside an artificial world Waiting for discovery, to realize what’s meant to be No, it isn’t real, it’s just the way we’re made to feel No, it isn’t right, it’s all we know, what’s in our sight There's a new horizon here, somewhere in the morning clear Beckoning to us, look this way Surrendering to solitude, a softening of attitude Finally peace and quietude today Wandering alone, looking for that new horizon In the fleeting light, we dream about the new tomorrow Will there be, room for me? Our destiny is near, guiding us in new directions As the feeling grows, we’re hoping we can see forever Can we see, eternity? We live our lives one instant at a time Always so consumed by fear, this wasn’t really the idea Trapped inside our artificial world Waiting for discovery, when all along we could be free No, it isn’t real, it’s just the way we’re made to feel No, it isn’t right, it’s all we know, what’s in our sight No, it isn’t real, it’s just the way we’re made to feel No, it isn’t right, it’s all we know, what’s in our sight

Not a soul around but the ordinary me No one to be found but the ordinary me I know I can’t escape it I might as well just face it ‘cause That’s the way things are, I’m just the ordinary me Time to come to terms with the ordinary me So much I can learn as the ordinary me I can’t forget my dreams But funny as it seems It’s really not that bad to be the ordinary me There’s a whole new world out there for the ordinary me A future I can share as the ordinary me I won’t give in to fear I know that much is clear ‘cause This is now the time To be the ordinary me The ordinary me

A Part of Me 03:51
Headin’ down the highway of my life I see the quiet times before me Tearing through the superficial lies I search for truth in all the promises When all around me there is love And I just have to look above Because forever, you are on my mind And forever, you’ll be a part of me With each passing day, I still remember How you’ve always been there when I needed you Through all the bad times and the good times I can always count on you to come through And when I need it, there is love It’s all around me and above Because forever, you are on my mind And forever, you’ll be a part of me I know I haven’t said it quite enough I love you, and I need you in my life You see forever, you are on my mind And forever, you are on my mind And forever, you are on my mind And forever, you are on my mind And forever, you’ll be a part of me

Why do I still hang on? I’m the one who had moved on Why can’t I get out on my way? You say you’re feeling good tonight Why do you feel you have to hide? You won’t be free ‘til you stop clinging to your pride You entertain your cardboard friends But when will the bullshit end? I know that it’s tearing you up inside But when you need to let your feelings show And if you need someone just let me know When you’re feeling down, you can count on me You can count on me, to be the friend you never had You can count on me, to be the one to understand And when you need to let your feelings show And if you need someone just let me know When you’re feeling down, you can count on me You’re longing for a better life Want everything to be just right You want to be the hero of the day But still you keep such tight control Emotions you can never show Why do you always have to act this way? But when you need to let your feelings show And if you need someone just let me know When you’re feeling down, you can count on me You can count on me, to be the friend you never had You can count on me, to be the one to understand And when you need to let your feelings show And if you need someone just let me know When you’re feeling down, you can count on me And when you need to let your feelings show And if you need someone just let me know When you’re feeling down, you can count on me When you’re feeling down, you can count on me When you’re feeling down, you can count on me

Under a fluorescence, I held you close Underneath the morning light, we danced with shades drawn Under the neon glow Under a fluorescence, mystery awaiting In love In this motel atmosphere, the finer shades of love sold everywhere Under the neon haze, you would be waiting Under the neon glow Under a fluorescence, neon reflecting A mystery awaiting The neon reflecting And your vacancy sign turned off and on In this natural evening, naturally love is everywhere Above the neon haze, had the moon disappeared? Under the neon glow Under a fluorescence In love Under the neon glow Under the neon glow Under the neon glow Mystery awaiting The neon reflecting The mystery awaiting The neon reflecting

Time 03:31
Once the story’s over, then the dream must end We started out as lovers, but we can still be friends ‘cause Time is what remains Time’s ahead of us now Time heals a wounded heart, once again And so we go on hoping, and living day to day The love we had has faded, things just work out that way (Time) But time is what remains (Time) Time’s ahead of us now (Time) Time heals a wounded heart, once again But life goes on around us And we can’t set our dreams aside ‘til Tomorrow brings us back again And we can face the future (Time) Time is what remains (Time) Time’s ahead of us now (Time) Time heals a wounded heart, once again (Time) Time is what remains (Time) Time’s ahead of us now (Time) Time heals a wounded heart

There’s so many ways to say I love you So many ways to say I care So many ways to say thank you for being the best father the world could ever share There’s so many ways to say I’m grateful So many ways to say I miss you So many ways to say I’m sorry For all the times I tried to hurt you Yet there you are for me, the best that you can be When I need you, you’re my best friend And when I’m feeling blue, I know that you’ll come through When I need you, you’re my best friend Times haven’t always been good to us But then they weren’t half bad And we’ve shared some of life’s greatest joys, the best anyone’s ever had And I’ll always remember you For the times you were there No matter what life held in store, I knew you’d always care ‘cause There you are for me, the best that you can be When I need you, you’re my best friend And when I’m feeling blue, I know that you’ll come through When I need you, you’re my best friend Now that you’re so far away I still need you in my life And our times together are better than ever Now that we can’t be together Still there you are for me, the best that you can be When I need you, you’re my best friend And when I’m feeling blue, I know that you’ll come through When I need you, you’re my best friend There you are for me, the best that you can be When I need you, you’re my best friend And when I’m feeling blue, I know that you’ll come through When I need you, you’re my best friend When I need you, you’re my best friend

Who will ever know? Who will even care? Whose turn will it be? The fickle public will soon forget, the item on page 3. Open the bottle slow, you will know the difference And if tonight there’ll be, a killing on the market A killing on the market It’s a jungle out there, it’s a jungle in here He won’t be left in the prairie dust, this time Help feed the world some day Turn a sword into a market share Busines instinct, turn the ground under And like a knife he makes a killing on the market A killing on the market Open the bottle slow, you will know the difference And if tonight there’ll be, a killing on the market A killing on the market Business instinct, turn the ground under And like a knife he makes a killing on the market A killing on the market A killing on the market

A Natural 03:42
There’s feelings all around that I can’t explain Just to have you near me, your friendship again I never knew how much I’d miss you, but there must be a way To get through the rest of the day The times we shared together just weren’t enough To ease the pain I feel now, I miss you so much The laughter and the music will always be in me I’ll think about the way you used to be You were a natural, they’re so hard to find A natural, so caring and kind You gave so much so easily Oh tell me why, tell me why, the good must always die So now I must go on pretending each day And always think about what others might say You showed such sensitivity to people and their cares Sometimes it’s much more than I can bear You were a natural, they’re so hard to find A natural, I’m out of my mind You gave so much so easily Oh tell me why, tell me why, you had to go and die

I Will Keep 04:20
Won’t be pushed around, all of my life To take what just comes, to wait in the dark Frustrated anger, I aim at you The changes inside me, ain’t easy to do But I will keep this light shinin’ I will keep this heart bright I will keep, I will keep Handouts and pity, I don’t need Opinions and judgments aren’t really me I’ve lost my way from love this time My heart knows the way, but not my mind But I will keep this light shinin’ I will keep this heart bright I will keep, I will keep I will keep I know the world we want is like a misty dream in the nighttime That with the daylight disappears But like the moon too shy, she hides her face in the shadows Waiting for her moment to be here The darkness, thick darkness, cannot surround the light The light, the light (the darkness) The light, the light (the darkness) The light But I will keep this light shinin’ I will (the light) keep this heart bright I, I will (the light) keep this light shinin’ I, I will (the light) keep this heart bright I will keep, I will keep I will keep

about

Thanks so much for your interest in Extra-Ordinary, which is the pinnacle of a life spent in music. According to my father, I was humming tunes before I could talk, and music has been a central part of who I am ever since.

After plunking out tunes on a piano starting at 3, I began taking lessons at 6. In the summer between 9th and 10th grades, my focus turned from classical to pop music, and shortly after that I caught the acting bug. Since that time, I have been privileged to have a tremendously varied career encompassing musicals, non-musicals, children’s theater, independent films, rock bands (some of whose music is included here), and the a cappella doo-wop group The Starry Knights, for whom I originally wrote the opening number here, What’cha Doin’.

What’cha Doin’ is just one of many songs I’ve written over the years, starting at 16. And my songwriting has been heavily influenced by those I like to call the “Big 3” -- Billy Joel, Elton John and Barry Manilow -- as well as countless other artists and a number of great musicals.

This album is a culmination of my life and experiences, and the variety in my career is reflected in the many styles incorporated here -- from rock to pop to blues and more. And thanks to the tremendous help of my co-producer and engineer Brad Dollar, as well as a slew of “extraordinary” instrumentalists and vocalists, a project which began over 15 years ago is finally ready to be shared with the world. My fervent wish is that you will get as much joy out of listening to it as I got from making it.

If you receive some benefit from Extra-Ordinary, please spread the word widely, as I would love for this music to make its way to as many people and places as possible.

Thanks for listening!
